Why Rhythm?

When you think about it, rhythm is a natural part of our world. So it only makes sense that by tapping into this powerful source, we can create exciting opportunities for change, connection and creativity. Many studies show how playing a drum or other percussion instrument can relieve stress by helping us to connect with our own natural rhythm. Add your rhythm to a group and it creates a powerful metaphor for communication, cooperation and community!

According to research by Dr. Lissa Rankin, it’s impossible to be stressed and relaxed at the same time. When people gather together to create a group rhythm making experience, they quickly slip into what is referred to as a “relaxation response.” It is in this state of conscious connection that smiles surface, the immune system is boosted and stress is relieved. When an organization encourages their team members to step out of the box and try something new, it encourages greater creative thinking, problem solving and connection to others!
